TOPIK, Test of Proficiency in Korean, is a written test designed to measure the ability of non-native speakers for expression and comprehension in the Korean language.
Starting from the 35th TOPIK (July 2014), the test has changed its Level Structure, Section Format, Question Composition, Time, Marks and Pass-Fail Score Rules.
So I registered for the 49th TOPIK in September 2016 – Beginner Level and took the test on 20th November 2016. The test venue in Ho Chi Minh City was Korean International School (KIS) in District 7.
I lazily studied for the test since August and the motivation was even dropped in the middle due to a sudden interest in TFBOYS and their language – Chinese. Basically I walked into the test room with some basic grammar points and 500 vocabulary more or less. I also didn’t bother to take the Listening Mock Test in advance.
Suzanne Collins: “May the odds be ever in your favour”
Me: “Oh, they do”
How come a student who got so confused in the Listening Section, didn’t understand the instructions in the Reading Section and guessed “B” for 35 out of 70 questions scored 92 points and passed Level 1 so easily?
Anyway, I treat this as an encouragement from Study God and will continue to learn Korean in the future then :3
