Same Same But Different

Over the weekend I've made some exciting changes to the website. It's much faster and spam-free now!

My very first blog post dated February 6, 2016, which means Version 1 of this website had been around for more than five years. During that time, I only used one theme which was the Fukasawa developed by Anders Norén since it is so beautifully minimal and functional. WordPress is also a CMS platform that I've grown familiar with since university days.

However, it started to become very slow around mid-March and as an impatient person, I was getting annoyed. I stopped writing because the loading speed killed my mood. But at the same time, I was not that motivated to change the website.

Last Friday, I came across the book The Great Gatsby in the house and it suddenly reminded me of GatsbyJS and the concept of static site generator. On the spur of the moment, I looked it up and found a sample portfolio site that is very similar to Fukasawa (this one). Therefore, I spent the next two days making modifications and the outcome is what you're experiencing now. Much thanks matjack1 for saving me a lot of time.

The website looks almost the same, but it is written with GatsbyJS and DatoCMS and deployed to Netlify. Now everything is faster I'm happy.
